Five down - one to go!
Five of my little ones (not tiny though: 16" x 16" + 12" x 24") are finally finished to my satisfaction. It doesn't look as if it would be as much work as it actually was - partly because two of them had to be totally re-worked as I wasn't completely happy with them! The one that was initially vertical is now horizontal and completely unrecognizable. I usually find that small paintings require almost as much work as larger works - but of course the rule is, that it is unpredictable! I have one more 16" square half done - also on the second go - I guess that the problem is that when you start out on a series, the first few pieces are a little tentative as you are trying to find your way. But then as you go along and get into the swing of it, you become much more aware of where you are going and really hit your stride with the later ones ------------- and all of a sudden the first ones seem kind of lacking and not measuring up, so out they come again for a few small changes that quickly mushroom and grow on you. Anyway, that seems to be the way it is for me - I wonder if other artist find the same thing?
So what now - apart from finishing the last one? Well, first of all catching up on some of the more business related things like: photographing and recording my latest group of work, writing this blog, updating my website generally - and not to forget to keep up my FaceBook pages, both private and business pages - amazing how much time one can spend on those things when one also has to keep up with what others are doing!! And I'm also getting to the point of seriously thinking of sending out a few submissions so that I can start to show my new work - now when I feel that I have enough to put on a decent show. I'll keep you posted.
