These two little new ones have now seen the light - finally! My hoped for uninterrupted time in the studio unfortunately became quite interrupted, by unforeseen events - and that seems to be the order of things most of the time. You can cross off things on your "to - do" list as much as you like, but somehow it does not get any shorter: it seems that all you achieve is to make room for other jobs to crop up! Maybe it is the "Me Too" syndrome??? It is truly amazing how much time can be taken up by just keeping the garden from drying out completely (I have given up on the lawn and it is now totally dry with only a few hardy weeds still alive), catching up on a few jobs, general basic housekeeping as well as looking after the dogs and taking them for their daily walks ----------- and also trying to relax a little and enjoy the fantastic weather we are having!
My two paintings in the international juried show "Oil and Water" here in Tsawwassen look really good among the seventy or so other paintings included in the exhibition and it has been hung extremely well, which is quite an achievement considering the variety of styles and sizes - not an easy job to knit a cohesive show together under these conditions! There is a lot of really good work which is very nice to see and the Opening Reception was well attended - and my painting "Estuary #3" received an award: the Critic's Choice Award, which was extremely nice and encouraging. But again - how on earth they decide on who gets the awards beats me - with so much good work how can they choose??? Anyway, I'm not complaining! Below are the two pieces on the wall:
The show is on till Saturday, August 23, 2014.
